Go to the hardware store and get ';Stick-E-Tack';. It's a sticky putty like substance that doesn't damage walls. It should hold ribbon.
how do you mean? straight down the wall? what about a staple gun (it leaves smaller holes than a nail). or try two pieces of double stick tape. just put a small stitch from the ribbon to a piece of tape. then tape that to a piece of tape on the wall, of course it will depend on the texture of your wall though.
