Hanging pictures on soundproof walls with out nails.?

The contractor was supposed to get some industrial strength velcro. He hasn't brought any over. I'm in Torono Ontario does any one know where in Toronto can some one get velcro strengthHanging pictures on soundproof walls with out nails.?
Wal Mart in the Fabric dept or any Lowes or Home depot or hardware store; they all carry it.

You can always get those Command hangers that hold up heavy stuff and when you take them down the tape comes off really easy I think they are made by 3 MHanging pictures on soundproof walls with out nails.?
They sell them at Home Depot
home depot should have industrial Velcro but i also like double sided wall mount tape it works great
Walmart, any hardware store.
3M makes an adhesive backed hook that you can use. They are pretty strong and work on various surfaces.

I just bought a 35-40lb mirror. How do I hang it on a solid oak wall that won't budge for a nail/wood screw?

Use mirror clips. Pre-drill the holes for the screws.I just bought a 35-40lb mirror. How do I hang it on a solid oak wall that won't budge for a nail/wood screw?
Drill a hole for the screw(s) first.

Does anyone know about hanging water , in ziplock bags, from nails around a restaurant, to keep the flies out?

I have seen a few restaurants around town with ziplock baggies full of water hanging from nails around the open windows and doors. they say it's to keep the flies out and they say it works. If it works WHY does it work?

Also some people put gallon jugs of water around the perimeter of their yard to keep dogs from peeing on their grass does that work? If so, WHY?Does anyone know about hanging water , in ziplock bags, from nails around a restaurant, to keep the flies out?
I occasionally go to a restaurant that had the bags of water hanging from the top of the door. When I asked about it, the owner said that the flies saw the water and looked on it like a water fall, or at least dripping water. This kept them out. The door was open all day and I don't think I saw over 2 flies (total, not in one visit) in the restaurant. The restaurant is on the coast and not prone to flies which I think may be a more valid answer as to the lack of flies inside. Last time I was there, the water bags were gone and the door was shut. Still no flies.

But it makes a good story. Maybe Mythbusters would check it out?Does anyone know about hanging water , in ziplock bags, from nails around a restaurant, to keep the flies out?
Hope it works, a friend told me to do this for horses. I hate using so many chemical fly sprays on the horse.

I thought that old urban legend died out a couple of years back. One of our local (Texas) BBQ chains used to hang up ziplocs of water and claimed it did the job well. Seems to me that the new window screens that they installed were what did the job.

With the drought as bad as it is around here, a leaky ziploc would ATTRACT the (%26amp;^%^%$! things.

I've heard about the jugs of water trick for dog repellent, too. I tried it and my neighbor's dog hiked his leg on the jugs the same as if they were a rock or fencepost.
The water contains admixtures of certain compounds which disperse into the local atmosphere.

How can I hang a cabinet without screws or nails?

I'm looking to hang a custom built cabinet for my BBQ tools outside, but I am not allowed by the housing manager to use anything that ';degrades the structural integrity'; of the house, ie. screws or nails. I live in Colorado, so we have all four seasons, with temperatures in the single to negative digits, and snow.

What do have any suggestions on what I can use to hang the storage box? It isn't quite a flat surface, but more like:

where the panels are angled outward slightly, then cut back in about an inch to angle out again. I've been thinking of using picture wire to hang it, but do you know of any 3M or equivelent hook with adhesive that can withstand the temperature range and strength? How can I hang a cabinet without screws or nails?
there are hooks that you can buy that have adhesive tape that sticks to some surfaces. it is not very strong. that is too bad.

but there are trays that you can buy that hook under a grill. that would be the next best thing to house your bbq tools. How can I hang a cabinet without screws or nails?
you can try using the 'No More Nails' product or 'Bulldog adhesive' (or another contractors grade adhesive).
Siding is not designed to support an element like a Cabinet. Cabinets require attachment ( via screws) to the wall structure studs. I'm sure the LL would be very upset with anything '; glued'; to the siding.

You could possible do a ';freestanding'; cabinet - with a support rack to the ground or make a deal with LL to leave cabinet in place after you leave. (LL might approve if he/she feels it is a PLUS)
I would buy some castor wheels to put on the cabinets. That way, I can move he cabinet around to whenever I might need it. You could also think about attaching a nice thick board to the top as a counter type surface for when you need just that little extra space for food or prep items. Nothing you use will be any kind of permanent solution for keeping the cabinet in place. It will continue to fall and eventually break under the strain of falling so much.
so why not build a rolling cabinet with a door and some shelves? put a small railing around the top to keep your fixins on when you bar-b-q
Build a stand alone frame that goes againt the wall, not on to it.

Then attach the cabinet to that.

Think PT 2X4 and 2X6.

liquid nail or no nails
There is no satisfactory way of attaching a cabinet without screwing it. I know of no glue that will work. It might for a short time but you will find it on the ground when you go out of a morning

  • Hang art with a nail or a screw?

I recently purchased a framed art reproduction, it came with all the necessary hardware, accept for the actual nail or screw... so what should I use for a 20';x24'; heavy set framed oil painting...Hang art with a nail or a screw?
don't use a nail. especially in drywall. always use a plug and then a screw. and make sure that the screws/wire on the back (if they're not on yet) are 1/3 of the way down. also, if you have a wood frame and what to make sure that it doesn't warp (it will warp b/c its natural, it breathes and even in a living room, there is moisture), don't use wire. hang directly on the screws. its a little harder to hang, but trust me, once its done, it'll be more secure, and less likely to warp. if you're using wire, use wire in plastic. hope that helps.

(p.s. this comes from 7 years of custom framing).Hang art with a nail or a screw?
Do you have a 3M brand?

A hook that easily remove when you dont want to place there anymore

it good stuff easy to put %26amp; easy to remove :)
order some of those hangers you see on tv that you just push into the wall, i hung a very heavey mirror with them and they work great leaving just a tack size hole when removed, can't think of the name, sorry.
Screw What the other guy Said,

    Use a Good Screw,

Less Chance of it slipping out, especially if its going straight into a wall. You might also want an anchor, then a screw, for maximum holding strength.
There are new hooks which anker so well, easy to remove and barely leave marks.
I assume you are hanging the painting with picture wire?

There is a new little picture hanging wall mount in most hardware stores these days. It has a slightly burred nail going through a disc at about a 45 degree angle. It is all one piece and usually gold-toned metal. They work great and come in different sizes to hold different weight paintings.

Most importantly, consider using 2 of whatever you decide to hang with. It is much easier to level bigger paintings that way.
    With a nail
I prefer the screw - it tends to hold a bit better, at least in my experience.
EITHER A NAIL OR SCREW IS OKAY.

I have an ornamental metal flower basket I want to hang from a tree. Will I hurt the tree if I nail it in?

The tree is a mature tree with very thick bark although unsure of the type of tree. It would only take two nails to hang it, and the piece is not particularly heavy itself although flowers will be planted in it making it slightly heavier.I have an ornamental metal flower basket I want to hang from a tree. Will I hurt the tree if I nail it in?
You will not hurt the tree.

Trees are very adaptable. Have you ever noticed trees that grow really close to fences begin to absorb the fence into the tree trunk itself? It will do no damage at all.I have an ornamental metal flower basket I want to hang from a tree. Will I hurt the tree if I nail it in?
if it has a thick branch, you could nail it to that, or find someway to hang it from the trunk.
Not at all. My parents used to nail bird feeders and bird houses and suet to mature trees. And people have been building tree houses for kids for ages.
No problems putting a nail in a mature tree. I have a brass plaque nailed to an ash tree in my garden with no ill effects.
    it will be fine.

as long as the tree is mature and you nail it to a big thick strong branch
No problem nailing it to a tree.

As an alternative you could use suitable size wood screws.

Can you put a nail in a solid fiberglass front door? I'd like to hang a wreath.?

Would screws be better? Or do I have to use one of those stick-on 3M thingies? Can you put a nail in a solid fiberglass front door? I'd like to hang a wreath.?
You can buy wreath hangers that fit over the door. I would not put anything on the fiberglass.

Here's a link to show you what they look like. And, these are the expensive kind. No need to spend that much, you can find them at places like Walmart at great prices.

http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=h鈥?/a>Can you put a nail in a solid fiberglass front door? I'd like to hang a wreath.?
Use a sticky thingy, you'll spoil the door otherwise.
    Please do not.

Try using double sided tape or those removeable tapes.

Check it out at local hardware stores.
Not advisable. Why don't you just use a removable adhesive hook?
The 3-M Command removable hooks work well. They will not harm the finish on your door and will not interfere with your door closing as some over-the-door wreath hangers will.
Do not pull a nail in your fiberglas door. You can purchase special wreath hooks that go over the top of the door with a hook on the front for your wreath. This is the only way I hang anything on the front door. You can purchase them at any store. I got mine at Target, but they are sold everywhere.
Do not nail into a fiberglass door it would compromise the integrity of the door and if it is a new door would void any warranty. Use some sort of 3M tape like you were asking about.

Whats the best way to hang christmas lights without actually nailing anything into the roof?

This link here has 25 types of clips...some attach to the shingle edges..some attach to the gutters..and some are designed for multi purpose and has all applications...you do not need to order them online..any store that has christmas decorations has them

http://www.noveltylights.com/clips.htmWhats the best way to hang christmas lights without actually nailing anything into the roof?
Lights on your roof are not safe.

For putting up lights, I'll use a hook to hang off the gutters or for railings, I use the plastic strips that come straight and you stick the narrow end into the other end and it click locks. Not sure the right name of them, but they work good and you can just snip them when it's time for the lights to come down.Whats the best way to hang christmas lights without actually nailing anything into the roof?
Grab a baggie of cable ties at Radio Shack. They are plastic strips that clip closed. You can string the lines and hold them to the gutters, to any pipes sticking up, etc.

To remove them, just clip them with a nail clipper or a pair of scissors.

    - Stuart
tiny clamps, like those used to hold papers together in an office, will clip to your shingles without causing damage. Worth a try if you can't find a better alternative.
the plastic clamps you can find at any store that sells decorations.

  • Can I just hammer a nail straight in a (plastered then painted) wall to hang a clock on?

It all depends on how heavy the clock is. I have had great luck with picture hanging hardware. They are designed to support up to 50 lbs in weight and work great for clocks. You can purchase them at your local home center and they only cost $2 - $4.

The anchors are designed to work in drywall without backing. They are simple to install and don't leave as permanent a hole as you would find from a nail.

Good luck! Can I just hammer a nail straight in a (plastered then painted) wall to hang a clock on?
Wood framed walls are finished with wood lathe and plaster in older homes, or gypsum board (drywall) in newer homes.

Plaster will crack if you pound a nail into it. You'll need to drill a hole, put in a lead or plastic expansion sleeve, and fasten a hanger with screw placed in the sleeve.

You can nail into gypsum board. This won't hold alot of weight unless your nail is also into the wood framing (stud) behind. Where you want to hang something heavy between studs, use the sleeves as for plaster.

For something light, there are also hangers with a self adhesive patch that work on any surface. Can I just hammer a nail straight in a (plastered then painted) wall to hang a clock on?
Best to find what the wall is nailed/screwed to and put a nail or screw into the same. Also depends on weight of clock. If it is light weight a nail into the sheetrock could do the trick.

I am trying to hang pictures and keep hitting the metal frame. How can I find a good place to put the nail?

When we lived in an apartment it seemed like I hit this steel stud everytime I would try to hang pictures with a nail. Eventually, after hammering for 5 or 6 times, I will finally get sheetrock that I can hammer the nail into. We just purchased a brand new home and these homes are made from a steel frame. I am running into the same issue when trying to hammer the nail, except it seems like the nail is springing back out the hole.

How can I tell right off the bat, a good place to hang my pictures WITHOUT putting a million holes in the wall?I am trying to hang pictures and keep hitting the metal frame. How can I find a good place to put the nail?
You can use self-tapping screws, available at any hardware store......That's what they use to hang drywall on metal studs......Also check the hardware store in the picture frame dept. They sell hooks that you don't have to put in a stud or put big holes in the wall with, they can hold alot of weight........I am trying to hang pictures and keep hitting the metal frame. How can I find a good place to put the nail?
    Don't! Use contact hangers.

Get a stud finder that will detect metal studs as well as wooden ones. Use it to determine where the studs are and then you can avoid them....
Once you know where ONE of the frame is, another one is either 16 or 24 inches apart. You should be able to guess where the next one will be.... OR, you could buy a stud finder at any home improvement center.
You can find a stud finder on Amazon for sale.

    http://www.amazon.com/Zircon-61386-StudS鈥?/a>
You can use a stud finder that you can buy at like Walmart or a home improvement store. It uses batteries and you hold it up to the wall and it will let you know where to put the nail.
I say you should hang pics where ever you want, by using drywall inserts with a screw, or a self tapping screw. If your insistant on using nails and dont care too much on location of pics, purchase a metal stud finder to locate the metals studs and have at it.
    use a screw
You should buy a stud finder for heavier items.Thick nails for sheetrock.

Just blame him without it making sense, the other day someone on here was blaming Bush for Bird Flu. The ';Obama Blame Anything on Him'; is a well known syndrome, much like the '; Going a Bit Red in Helsinki'; syndrome popular in the '50's and 60's. If you are a real believer, then that rain drop you just felt as you walked outside is his fault as well. The man has a God-like affect on all of us. I can't find my car keys now! OOps that was to far back.

Maybe someone waving there hands and bowing to the MESSIAH caught it.
Obama is in bed with the nail clipper industry. They, of course, love hang nails and have been putting mercury in the water for years to weaken nail growth.

oh and Bill Ayers is on the board of the ';Project: Hang Nail'; board.
McCain really blew it with the plumber guy. Instead of Joe, McCain should have campaigned with Millie the Manicurist; and exposed Obama for the nail-biting socialist that he is!
Don't worry, he'll deny ALL involvement in it. Just like he does with everything else. He ';never'; agreed with Rev Wright's sermons despite attending that church for 20 years. And he ';never'; knew about the corrupt Chicago political machine. etc etc etc
Simple. The comrade clippers you got issued were rusty and dull, and you can't affort to spend the $50 it will cost to replace them.

I don't know';as I have always said'; he had nothing to do with and hardly even knew you sorry. His #1 priority his to misinform you with not what he says BUT how he said it makes his give you hope and change
Obama never improved health care so it never got taken care of before it was a problem.
Sure why not. The republicans blame everything on him. The republicans are pitiful.
Well, if Obama would have given free nail clippers to all Americans, you would have never gotten a hang nail.
I bet you can find an article somehow on the internet and relate it. I always find a way. I don't think you're trying hard enough.
You are so worried about how Obama will mess up the country you started biting your nails.
You must live in Ohio, and you got it when you were voting often for Obammma. Repetitive voting illegally will cause this condition.
i don't know exactly how it works out, but it's probably related to the President Elect's adamant refusal to provide us with a copy of his sixth grade class schedule.
Anyway you can. That seems to be the way everybody else does it.
You can't blame Obama for everything.
You could not afford a decent pair of nail clippers but because of Obama's Socialist plan for America
if you have a bad manicure, the terrorists have already won. ;)
Yes, you could. Or blame it on Bush..everyone blames everything else on him, so jump on the bandwagon!

Libs have been blaming Bush for tripping over their untied shoe laces for years. It's all his fault.

You can get it at most retail stores or online at the 3M website. The double sided tape is strong and durable, but not too strong. Hopefully that helps..

depending on the size you could try those hooks by 3mDoes anyone know what to hang wall decor with so that it will not leave big nail holes?
Picture hanger hooks specially made work well. Stick with small picture hook nails.

If the item is heavy, you will need to use a mollie and that could potentially leave larger holes, nothing that can't be fixed with Spackle.
look on the web site ';as seen on tv'; they sell sturdy hooks for walls. They have a infomercail with Billy Mays. or those made by 3m that don't get nailed in they get stuck on.
You would be amazed at how much a straight pin will hold! All of my framed family photos, up to 11x15, are hung using straight pins. The biggest difficulty is nailing the pin into the wall without bending it. But once in, it does a great job. The holes are so small that they are covered when the room is repainted. A good option for heavier artwork is those hooks that use adhesive, usually advertised at Christmas, but available all year.
A company called Ooks makes a line of picture hangers that leave a hole smaller than a finishing nail. I've used them and they're great. In fact, I give packages of them as a housewarming present (ok, maybe it sounds tacky, but you'd be amazed at how popular the gift is). You can get Ooks at hardware stores and Home Depot. Here's what Tom Silva, This Old House general contractor, says about them:

Shim at each hinge, above and below the strike, and anywhere else needed to keep the margin straight between the jamb and the door. Use a nail set to countersink the nails, and fill the holes with exterior wood filler. Remove one or two screws (one at a time) from the top hinge and replace with a 3'; x #10 flat head wood screw in a color to match the existing screws. Hope this helps. What types of nails and screws to use on exterior pre-hung door?
use 3'; zinc coated or galvanized screws every 16'; along the jambs and one for each hinge. you also want to install long screws along the strike plate to make the door more secure. don't forget to install moistop flashing along the trims to seal the exterior before the installation. good luck!
I prefer to use screws, but nails will work just as well.

Put a long screw in each hinge and a couple of long screws at the strike plate. The longer screws will make it more difficult for someone to kick the door in.

3M Command Adhesives - the plastic hooks with the double sided tape. Its pretty strong, and it only costs about $3. Walmart or Target, probably Home Depot and everywhere else this time of year.
yep, door hanger wrap it in ribbon
If your door is steel there are magnet hooks. If wood or fiberglass I have found ';Command Hooks'; to work on just about anything and they are available most anywhere. They have an adhesive strip on the back that removes without damaging the surface.
get a door hanger from like target or walmart or something
go to your local department, or hardware store they will have some picture hangers that will stick on your door but will not leave sticky residue upon removal after Christmas.....jack
They sell wreath hangers that clasp the top of the door, and hang down. Try, Pier One, or anyplace that sells wreathes.
Coat hanger, bend it down over the top edge %26amp; connect to the

    wreath.
    velcro?

if you put a nail through your door..(better for the wreath to stay on)..you can patch it up with epoxy and paint over it. no one will know the difference...also...if you get a smaller nail and hook for picture hanging...that might work too...
I hate to buy things, I try to use what is already around my house, altho door hangars are great there 6 to 7 bucks SO use a strong coat hanger, just bring ends together and bend, clip the top to the door and use the bottom part to hang wreath on.
Put a decorative ribbon through the wreath and hang it by placing a tack through the two ends of the ribbon and inserting it in the very top of the door. It should close OK.
Is the door encased in steel? If so, you may be able to tie the wreath to a strong small magnet.

Are there any windows, or other design features with trim around them, on the door? If so, you can probably drive a very small nail at a 45-degree angle right above the top of the moulding around the window, and the nail hole will be more or less invisible.

Or, maybe velcro would work somehow...if you get velcro with self-stick adhesive and stick a small piece of it onto the door, you can put the matching piece of velcro on the wreath.

Drops hanging in attic with nails?

i bought house and i see dorps of water with nails in attic.

i put new roof with tar paper and ice sheild.

one week latter i get in attic , i see same thing again , water

    drops on nial tips,

now i am upset cant sleep

please tell me if these drops are normalDrops hanging in attic with nails?
The drops of water on the nail tips are probably due to condensation--the nails sticking thru' the boards will be colder than the board and the water droplet forming on it is in essence 'Dew'.Don't worry-- it's not leaking, if you're concerned, you could try increasing the amount/size of vents.Drops hanging in attic with nails?
It's condensation. You may not have enough circulation in your attic. Make sure your eve vents are open as well as your roof vents or ridge caps. If they are all open, you may have to install more vents on your roof.
We had same problem last year. Normally I wouldn't go up there in January, but we did have water dripping through ceiling in a mild spell. What I immediately did was pull insulation away from the soffits (after ten years, it had spread itself evenly everywhere) and this blocks ventillation to your overhangs (common cause of ice dams). BUT, the real culprit is our house is 1920's, has no vapor barrier, and in the kitchen, we have no exhaust hood over stove. The roof over the kitchen was like a winter wonderland--inside! So, if this sounds familiar do things like: don't steam up a room, remove ceiling light fixtures and squirt foam insulation in all openings to the attic, and if your ceiling looks cracked coat it twice with good latex to provide some barrier. If you ever re-do a ceiling, put in some vapor barrier. Oh yeah, that reminds me, I still have to get an exhaust hood.

ALSO, if you have an exhaust hood or dryer vented into the attic, disconnect it now--some people do such things and its bad, bad, bad.

All advice about vents is good, but doubtful you're gonna do that right now.
That is normal. Condensation. Happens in winter. Nothing to worry about.
The moisture in the attic is condensing on the roof and collects at the end of the nails. Did you put in roof vents at the ridge when you put in the new roof? You may be able to install a vent or two between the joists. They are less than $30 each at home depot. You'll need to cut through the roof which can be a real job unless you have a reciprocating saw. A skill saw can do it but it may ruin the blade. Since you can access the attic, drive a long nail trough the roof from the inside centered between the joists so you can locate the vents between them.

Have you considered using window film? They have decorative ones (like flowers or bamboo or other colors) out there, and they are easily removable and not hard to place on the window. You can find them at a place like Home Depot. You can do a search on the home depot site for window film.
I used a stapler (leaves only very small holes) and a painted (to look pretty) paper bag, not terribly classy but it gets the job done. Good Luck!
Velcro strips will do the job
Get spring loaded curtain rods. They work like a shower curtain rod.
your apt don't let you put nails in any walls?? do they not let you decorate, hang pictures? that seems unfair. if you want to break the rule, drill away, just cover with spackle when you move. they have to repaint anyways when new tenants move in. i assume they use standard white paint? spackle will hide those holes.

What are some options for hanging hockey jerseys on the wall without usuing nails through the jerseys?

I have about 30 jerseys to fill my basement walls and would like the front logo to be visible. But do not want to damage any of the jerseys. So nailing the bottom would not work. What are some options for hanging hockey jerseys on the wall without usuing nails through the jerseys?
You could try velcro. You could use a wooden dowel rod (like a closet rod), brackets for each end, and put say 6 Jerseys on one rod, through the sleeves. You could do this for however many jerseys you have. This way if you need to take them down for washing when they get dusty, you just have to slide them off the rod and not have to worry about putting nails through the material. What are some options for hanging hockey jerseys on the wall without usuing nails through the jerseys?
it depends on what kind of material the jerseys are made of. I

would try a strong double sided tape. or take it to a store that frames pictures they will know how to hang your jerseys without damaging them
Frame them in larger shadow boxes or have it professionally done.
Would you be able to machine sew or hand sew some velcro strips on without damaging them?
First, you can put nails in the walls, leaving it sticking out about an eighth of an inch. Then, get curtain rings with the clips on them. Hang the circle ring over the nail and just clip the shirt on them. You'll probably have to do about four per jersey (on ends of sleeves and each side of the collar). It's inexpensive and EASY without damaging them.

Here's an example of the rings, but you can find them in packs at Wal-Mart (less expensive) as well:

My nose is stuffy and I have one actually 2 hangnails.......and they hurt REALLY bad like worse than usual and my nose is soooo stuffy i have to breathe through my mouth!!! i took motrin and its not helping da stuffy noze.

should i go 2 da doctorz?I have a stuffy nose and I have a hang nail....do i have swine flu?
Symptoms of swine flu are like regular flu symptoms and include fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, body aches, headache, chills, and fatigue. Many people with swine flu have had diarrhea and vomiting.

For a stuffy nose try vicks vapor or any other medicine that opens up your sinuses. Of if it's an allergy try zyrtec or benadry, something like that. As for the hangnails they are generally painful and i don't think the two are related. The stuffy nose will either go away by itself but if it persists for a long period of time then you might consider seeing a doctor.

How can you hang a full length mirror without using a nail?

I'm leaving for college soon and want to hang a full length mirror in my dorm room. However, we're not allowed to put any nails in the wall. Does anyone have any good ideas for how to hang a lightweight mirror without using nails and without sticking anything permanent to the wall? How can you hang a full length mirror without using a nail?
After growing up in rental places, my sisters and I got pretty creative about this stuff. Put a couple of screw eyes in the back of the frame and run a wire or heavy cord between them, like on the back of a painting. Then hang the wire from some existing....thing. If there's hooks on the wall, use one of those. The bed post of the top bunk, whatever is sticking out that could hold the weight. Or, get one (or two) of those over-the-door hangers http://www.finehomedisplays.com/products鈥?/a> and hang the wire from that. Good luck! How can you hang a full length mirror without using a nail?
No such thing as lightweight full length mirror. That funtack stuff might work, but you would need a lot of it. Your best bet is to get over yourself and use a smaller mirror, or get a free standing one.
You can't Nothing will hold the weight. Don't use double sided tape either. You will wreck the walls trying to scrape it off.
I've seen mirrors that have these hooky things that go over a door. Mirrors also come in stands so you can have it freestanding (and move it around as needed).
Prop it against the wall... Duh!!

It'll be a bit difficult without a nail or anything through the wall. You could try double sided tape. 3M brand is the first that comes to mind. If it works, you'll probably have paint come off with the tape when you try to move the picture. How do you hang something on a wall without a nail in the wall?
You can use picture hanging strips made by 3M. They don't need nails or screws and when you remove them they don't leave any marks.

The site below will give you more details

    http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en鈥?/a>
3M makes a product called Command Strips. I'm a teacher and use them all the time on the concrete block walls in my classroom. They hold very well and come off easily.
Why don't you buy some picture wire and a couple of cup hooks. Then, up where the wall meets the ceiling, if there is a crown molding, screw the cup hooks up there and run two picture wires down the wall and hang the picture on the wires. The small holes at the top of the wall will be almost invisible when the picture is removed.

Even if there is no crown molding, at that point, where the wall and ceiling meet, there is what is called a double top plate, (Steven take note of the proper terminology), and it runs horizontal all around the room. It extends down 3 inches from the ceiling, so there will be no problem trying to find a stud. Just use longer screws in place of the cup hooks.

If you want the hanging wires to be almost invisible, use fishing line.

Get some polysporin or an antibacterial cream and put it on the nail where its red. Do it several times a day and keep it clean. If you start you get swollen or you see any infection going under the nail, i would get some antibiotics. I just went through a similar thing and the infection went under my finger nail and half way down my finger very quickly, i lost my fingernail eventually but the infection is gone, good luck!

How do I nail into plaster walls to hang pictures?

Another person asked this question but the answers related to drywall, not plaster. Because plaster is applied on top of lath, I understand it is very difficult to put nails in the wall without cracking it. But there must be a way. Hanging pictures from crown molding is not an option here. How do I nail into plaster walls to hang pictures?
Either use self-adhesive hooks (if the weight of the pictures + frames permits), or get a stud finder, to locate the sturdier boards behind the walls. How do I nail into plaster walls to hang pictures?
Use a drill to drill a small pilot whole. Make sure the bit is smaller than the nail or screw you are using. And then hammer in. Make sure you purchase picture hangers that will support the weight of what you are hanging. If you don't have drill or you just don't want to fumble with it try using a piece of scotch tape and place it over the mark.

If have used both options and haven't had a crack yet.
Put a piece of scotch tape where you want your nail to be (this keeps the plaster from cracking or crumbling), hammer the nail into the wall, remove the tape, and you're ready to hang your picture.

However, sometimes it feels like the wall is petrified and the nail won't go in far enough. In that case, use the hammer with powerful but short hits (versus big-movement hits). For some reason this seems to help.

    (Drywall is so much easier!)
Have you tried pre-drilling the holes, and then using the anchor bolts that have a spring clip on the end. They are used for drywall but you have to drill holes for them.

I typed plaster and drywall hangers into the search and came up with this site, the pictures are not of what I'm talking about, but there are some with more than one nail, that you still might be able to pre-drill for
';In general plaster walls give less problems that drywall. If you are sure to be in a lath instead of in the cracks between two lath(s) that will hold a very good weight, up to say 5 pounds with no problems.

Screw type connectors / hangers work good, they are easy to put in and remove if a small pilot hole is used.

    For very large or super heavy things, I would use more than one hanger or attachment point to spread the load.';

  • I have a 19x 37 poster I had framed. It has a wire in the back. Can I hang it from a nail?

I have plaster walls. Do I need to use a hook? I also live in LA and in case of an dearthquake do not want it to fall on my head. Please advise. Thanks.I have a 19x 37 poster I had framed. It has a wire in the back. Can I hang it from a nail?
Sure you can use a nail - just be sure the nail head is not so small and the poster backing not so thin and the picture not so heavy that the head of the nail is forced thru the picture backing.

A better option is using 2 nails, placed horizontally, about 1/4 the width of the frame in from each side. This makes it easier to keep the poster level - the wire is ran over both nails so the picture doesn't go sideways every time it gets bumped (it is Ok if the nails aren't perfectly horizontal from each other - you get some adjustment in the wire).

it also looks nicer. The top of the picture hangs out slightly more than the bottom, angeling it toward the viewer.

Just make sure you drive the nails in at an angle.

You may still want to consider buying hooks. they are pretty cheep. An alternative is to make larger holes with a long nail, then making hooks out of a heavy coat hanger. if you are concerneed about it falling, hooks are the way to go. Hooks will also be easier on the plaster on the walls.I have a 19x 37 poster I had framed. It has a wire in the back. Can I hang it from a nail?
    A nail is fine
only nail if you know there is a stud directly behind it. If you know it is hollow than drill a hole and place a plastic anchor or use a toggle bolt. There is also a product, if you do not have a drill, where you can screw in a plastic anchor into the wall and then screw in a screw into the anchor. These will hold the poster frame. Go by Home Depot or Lowes and they will help you.
Most poster frames ane not heavy at all. If your framed poster weighs less than 10 lbs, there shouldn't be a problem.

When putting the nail into a plaster wall, first put a small X on the wall with masking tape. The tape will prevent the wall from cracking. Then put your nail in at an angle. To help prevent the frame from moving, put little plastic ';bumpers'; on the bottom corners of the back of the frame. These will grip the wall and keep the frame in place.
drill a small pilot hole a bit smaller the the nail you will use, then you can buy a package of picture hanging nails that has a looped end and the nail goes in at an angle for more support
For a picture that large, use a toggle bolt. It will expand behind the wall and reinforce it. A nail may come lose and drop it on your head, not to mention the rip in the plaster. If you wish to move the picture later, simply knock the togglebolt through, and patch the hole. These are available in the hardware area of walmart very cheaply.
use screws or hook, but be sure that the screws or hook can take the weight of the picture, adjust the size of the screws to the size of the pic. dont use nails coz it would get easily take off from the wall, or it can also break ur wall.

    hope this help.
I think (personal opinion) that you can use a nail. But be sure the nail is in a wall stud, so it will provide more support.
Use #6 screws and plastic anchors I would use 2 of them just be careful when you drill into the plaster that you don't make a hole larger then you need.
yes you can but, make sure the wire is thick enough and the nail on the wall is big enough to hold the picture.
See no reason why not. Just make sure the nail is in a stud.

Can I get aids if my friends blood got on my finger and I have a hang nail? We both are HIV-?

They need to have HIV for you to get it. And even if your friend had it, the blood would need to go into an open wound for you to get it.Can I get aids if my friends blood got on my finger and I have a hang nail? We both are HIV-?
Sorry but ALL previous answers are not true, because a person can get the HIV virus and have it in his/her blood for weeks before the test becomes positive. In this time, the virus could be passed to another test-negative person. Rare cases of HIV have been caused by transfusion when a very early infection test was negative. As for the ';hang nail';, only if it causes a break in the skin and contact with blood or an open wound is it a concern. Consider the possibility of other sexually transmitted diseases and get yourself tested for peace of mind to stop worrying.
No you can't. You would need to share needles or have unprotected sex with someone WHO is HIV+. If there is no HIV there you can't catch something that is not there to be caught. I know a lot of people worry about things like this, but you have to be infected by someone who is already infected.
If you are both negative, there is absolutely no chance of contracting HIV. You can only get HIV from the blood of someone who has it.

Even if your friend was HIV+, i think the likelyhood of getting it through a hang nail would be small.
you can only get HIV from an HIV+ person
No it has to be someone who is HIV+ just wash your hands really good you should be fine!

How should i lose weight fast, and am I fat, fix sweaty hangs, and stop biting nails?

well im 13 years old and i weight 114 and im 5'2 or 5'1

my two best friends are like twigs, i dont want to be that skinny, just smaller. But there are huge girls too in my grade, and i dont want to ever get that big.

Also do you know how to stop bitting nails? I have the shortest nails ever! ahha its kinda gross, also my hands sweat a lot, do you know how to fix that? How should i lose weight fast, and am I fat, fix sweaty hangs, and stop biting nails?
i know what you are gonna say when i tell you this but you have to listen, you are not overweight, and if you want to lose weight so you can get guys, dont do it because guys dont want a stick figure. but im not a ball and chain, so if you really need to lose weight, dont eat chips, soda, ice cream, brownies, cookies, or anything with extra calories in it. join a fitness place, like martial arts or yoga, i lost 30 pounds, this way and continue to lose weight, and it is so healthy. you think it will take a month?, no it takes more time to lose it and keep it off healthly. about your nails, just tell yourself not to bite them, or get some nail polish that is made to taste horrible, so you resist it. your hands probably sweat because you r nervous, so calm down. * oh, and about your weight again, do NOT starve yourself, cause it hurts your body and throwing up just burns your throat and insides. and all the weight will just be back in a month. good luckHow should i lose weight fast, and am I fat, fix sweaty hangs, and stop biting nails?
to lose weight you can try jump roping everyday. Watch out on your calories too. Um to stop biting nails try putting on nail polish, put on fake nails, or try buying something at CVS called Bite It. ( not so sure about the sweating)

I have many weight loss tips in my blog:

    http://rorysblogspot.blogspot.com/
Almost everyone knows that loosing weight is about changing your eating habits to a considerable extent. What many people don't realize is that this cannot just be done overnight! If you try to make drastic changes in your diet too quickly, chances are that you will only be frustrated and disappointed with your loosing that belly fat.

Also, there is more to weight loss than just diet and exercise. In this article I will give two great Tips on How to Get Rid of Belly Fat.

    1. Avoid self-sabotaging train of thoughts: Self-sabotaging thoughts will do you more harm than think. Just imagine, if you always think that you cannot do the things you need to do in order to lose weight, how can you ever loose that belly fat? If you think that you cannot do sit-ups and push-ups, you are probably jumping to conclusions and being too overly self-crital even before you have tried any exercises! If you think that doing thirty push-ups is too much for you, then start small. Start with 10-15 push-ups, and thank yourself once you have done it successfully! Then try to add one or two extra push-ups every day to your routine until you reach your target of thirty.

You see, when you start small, it becomes much easier to reach your goals! Instead of thinking too much about it, just take action and DO it! The amount of time you spend on thinking and criticizing yourself, you may as well as spend it on some exercise. While the former will do you no good, the latter will help you burn fat and loose that belly fat fast!

    2. Get help %26amp; support: Proper support is important in order to keep you on point and motivated. Without support, you won't be able to lose weight successfully. That is why it is essential that you enlist the support of your friends and family who understand you and support your goals. It is also essential that you choose a weight loss program which offers support to its members in the form of a support group or forum. In a forum, you will get support and tips from your peers and experts alike! Surround yourself with supportive people and stay away from the negative people who can only find faults with you!

If you follow these Tips on How to Get Rid of Belly Fat there is no reason why you won't be able to lose that belly fat! Remember that you can achieve whatever you believe or think in your mind. If you believe you can loose belly fat fast, then you WILL! I know that this sounds very much like The Secret and The Law of Attraction but it is very true!

For JW's. How many nails were used to hang Jesus on the tree?

If Jesus was on a cross I say three, if on a stake, I say two. What say the Witnesses? For JW's. How many nails were used to hang Jesus on the tree?
This question is worded in a very interesting way, noting that Jesus was impaled on a ';tree';. You may be interested to see how your own copy of the bible translates Acts 5:30, Galatians 3:13, Deuteronomy 21:22, 23, and Acts 10:39. The King James, Revised Standard, Dyaglott, and Jerusalem Bible translate the instrument of Christ's death simply as ';stake'; or ';tree'; because the original wording simply does not support the idea that this was more than a piece of upright wood.

The exact shape of Christ's instrument of death (or number of nails used) is hardly a central doctrine of the faith, but Jehovah's Witnesses do happen to believe that Jesus was almost certainly impaled on a simple stake, rather than a cross of two intersecting beams. Of course the Romans had the ability to create a cross, and probably did. But ask yourself: why they would have bothered when a simple stake would have worked just as well or better?

It is also eye-opening to examine how the first-century Christians felt about idols of any kind, much less one that glorified an instrument of death.

(1 John 5:21) Guard yourselves from idols.

(Acts 17:29) We ought not to imagine that the Divine Being is like gold or silver or stone, like something sculptured by the art and contrivance of man

Like the bible, Jehovah's Witnesses do not denounce the cross 'per se', or advocate some particular number of ';nails'; that must have been used. Instead, Witnesses believe that the bible plainly forbids idolatry of any kind, including the worshipful use of icons such as crucifixes.

http://watchtower.org/e/19960715/article…For JW's. How many nails were used to hang Jesus on the tree?
Two. They've said two ever since they decided to get rid of the cross.
    The bible doesn't say.

As a carpenter I hardly ever use only one nail to hold anything.

especially something as heavy as a 180 - 190 pounds.

I don't see anything wrong with 2 or even 3 nails used.

It depends on the size of nails used.

Many movies use spikes and not nails when they show only one being driven into the hand.

Did they use spikes or nails? Thomas said nails.

Did they actually hold the hands together and use one or two nails / spikes?

or did they separate the hands above his head and used one or two nails in each? (what you saw is an artist rendering, not a photo of the event)

And how does the number of nails effect my faith in the ransom paid by Jesus?

Will Jesus condemn me for not knowing how many nails were used in his death?

The issue you are trying to solve is why translate a word that means stake into cross, especially since crosses were used in false religion 1000 of years before Christ?

Instead of adding preconceived ideas to God's word,

Isn't it better to let it speak for itself?
As the person above said, since it is not stated, it is not important. A better question would be how long would it take to died on a cross compared to a state? The one other well known historical instance of the significant use of the cross was the slave rebellion led by Spartacus. According to the History Channel, it took upwards of a week for those thousands of rebels who were crucified to die, which is why it fell out of favor for almost 150 years, until about 40 years after Christ died.

Jewish tradition required those put to death to actually die before the new day starts, which is at sun set. Hanging from a stake collapsed the lung, suffocating you. For this reason, if a person was using his legs to push themselves up, solder were instructed to break them.

Though Rome controlled Israel, as well as many others, they did not force them to do things that went against the religious beliefs. The cross simply would not have been used, and even today, Judaism states that a stake was used.
Presumably 2, however no where does the Bible specify
For the Witness to be honest, they have to say two nails were used. One for his wrists, one for his feet. Page 52 of their book ';What Does The Bible Really Teach?'; shows a drawing from one their artists with Jesus on the starous and ONE nail keeping both of his arms on the stake.

John 20:25 and the words of Thomas give us a different viewpoint when Thomas says “Unless I see in his hands the print of the nails and stick my finger into the print of the nails and stick my hand into his side, I will certainly not believe.” (NWT). So even Thomas knew that there were nails used, giving a stronger case for those who say Jesus was hung not on a stake, but upon a cross.
It's not recorded in the Bible cause it's not a detail we need to know to know that he died for our sins.

The ransom sacrifice and how it affects us is what we focus on.

Acts 5:30 - ';The God of our forefathers raised up Jesus, whom you slew, hanging him upon a stake.'; (NWT)

Acts 5:30 - ';The God of our fathers raised Jesus from the dead—whom you had killed by hanging him on a tree.'; (NIV)

After having a c-section my belly hangs like eggs on nails. How do I get rig of it?

What is the best fastes way to shrink and tone a hanging belly after having a c-section?After having a c-section my belly hangs like eggs on nails. How do I get rig of it?
I am sorry to say liposuction is the only way.

Your belly hangs that way because of the underlying scar tissue.

Unless you can get youself model thin, it's always going to be like that.

They didnt' tell you that before they cut...did they? After having a c-section my belly hangs like eggs on nails. How do I get rig of it?
    Diet, exercise, and plastic surgery.
Sorry to tell you but the fastest way would be surgery! My son is 14 months old and my little pouch has just now gone away, but I didn't do any exercises or anything like that. I am getting married in September so now that I have lost the belly I want to tone it back up. Depending upon how long ago it was since you have had your baby and if you have gotten cleared by your doctor to go ahead and resume exercising you can try just doing crunches whenever you get the chance like if you are just sitting down watching tv get on the floor and start doing crunches. Before I got pregnant I would do sit-ups and crunches daily at minimum of 500 a day of each so 1000 a day. I was a workout addict I loved how I looked. I of course went on a diet after I had my son when I got cleared from my doc that I could start exercising I did take walks and did a few workouts but going 9 months without being able to do what I did before made me a bit lazy lol. Try cutting back your calorie intake unless you are breast feeding then I don't suggest it just take walks if you can. I noticed I did drop the weight quickly but I had to let my skin resume to normal on it's own you can't force it quickly just give it time. Some people lose it quickly while others it takes a while and some just don't lose it. I wish you the best of luck. And congrats on the new baby.
girl i know exactly what u are saying lol. I have the same issue. the only thing u will beable to do is have a tummy tuck. I went for a consultation after my son and the doc said my stomach muscles were just fine but i was just left with extra skin. He said to make sure i have all the kids i want and then come have the preocedure done. I am preg with #3 and last, so i will be having a tummy tuck hopefully by the beginning of next year 2008. That is so I will have time to heal from the c-section i will be having soon with this baby. Good luck to u and God Bless
After the doc gives you the go ahead, exercise....it may require plastic surgery though if you really want it gone....I wouldn't worry about it too much though....all moms have it to some degree
its like Kanye said- she got lipo wit yo money only a tummy tuck in this case
Hmmm, it happens with most of new moms, you could have gone for stomach tightened belts, some yoga or exercise or Liposuction.

First ask your doctor first which one is best for you
well the fastest would be plastic surgery, but situps would do you so much better. situps would tighten the skin and really tone you up.
JUST EXCERSI AND HAVE A HEALTY DIET OR PAY LIKE 1000 DOLLARS FOR A TUMMY TUCK
I have that problem also, and the only solution is an abdominoplasty ...a.k.a. tummy tuck (if it's bad). There is also a procedure called a miniabdominoplasty if it is less severe. Do you have trouble with stretch marks, too? I have terrible stretch marks, which have left me with a lot of excess skin (adding to the saggy look). If that's also an issue, then a tummy tuck IS the only way. You can lose weight/exercise to have less of the sag, but it won't go away completely and will stay sort of.. squishy. A tummy tuck will remove all of the skin from the belly button and downward to your pubic bone, and they make a new belly button for you. If you gained a lot of weight during your pregnancy, chances are that you some of the muscles in your abdomen seperated, so when getting a tummy tuck, they sew them back together. If that's the case, exercising won't be too effective. It runs anyware from like 4 - 10 thousand depending on where you go, but eventually, I have to have one.
I absolutely swear by Pilates. I did pilates 3 times a week after my baby and I was back to my pre baby size within 6 weeks! I recommend Windsor Pilates. It is the easiest to learn!
The only way is a tummy tuck.
Seems like everyone 1st instinct is surgery. I guess I'm old fashioned, my first instinct is excercise. Sit ups should work %26amp; lots of walking...but I have the same problem and haven't done either %26amp; still have the problem...I should take my own advice :)
It depends one what preg. this is %26amp; how much elasticity your muscles have. the Fastest way to get rid of it would be to have liposuction or tummy tuck, depending on the severity of the sag.
I wish I knew. I have the same problem. Im thinking that the only thing that is going to work is a tummy yuck!!!
Thats DISGUSTING!!!! Nice way to explain it.Didn't need that visual.Best of luck saggy.

I have concret walls and i trying to hang curtins but cant get nails in the wall?

i try nails even duct tape can someone help pleaseI have concret walls and i trying to hang curtins but cant get nails in the wall?
    drill hole

    place plastic anchor in hole

then screw in.I have concret walls and i trying to hang curtins but cant get nails in the wall?
Buy lead anchors a little larger than the screws you want to use. Ask for a masonry bit for an electric drill just the size of your lead anchor. Drill hole, slide in the tube shaped anchor, then use screwdriver to screw the threaded screw into the lead anchor. The anchor will expand as the screw goes in, thus holding tightly to the concrete.

TapCon screws do work (previous answer from someone else) but usually require a powerful drill to drive into concrete.

I built a all concrete house and we used a 'hammer drill' or pneumatic drill to drive TapCon screws. Not something usually around the house. See link to concrete house below.
go to a hardware store ask for Tap cons, tell them what your doing, they can give you the right size and explain how to use them

its a screw made to use in cement, you have to drill a hole first then just screw the Tap in

How to hang a 60'; wreath on outside of brick house without putting nails in brick?

I've had pretty good results using construction adhesive to attach hooks to brick. Liquid Nails is the brand I like. If you use the kind of hook that has a flat plate that goes against the wall it gives a bit more surface area for a better grip. Just got to make sure the glue is completely dry before you hang anything on it.How to hang a 60'; wreath on outside of brick house without putting nails in brick?
You can build an A frame out of 2x2's and hang it on that. It can just be propped up against the brick wall. I hope that helps. How to hang a 60'; wreath on outside of brick house without putting nails in brick?
Drill a hole in the MORTAR and put in a screw. Caulk it well, and leave it there for next year.
Get some of those hooks with the tape you can remove later, they sell them at Home Depot.
Try using wire and hang it from the gutter maybe.

When a 100-N bag of nails hangs motionless from a single vertical strand of rope, how many newtons of ...?

When a 100-N bag of nails hangs motionless from a single vertical strand of rope, how many newtons of tension are exerted in the strand? How about if the bag is supported by four vertical strands?

please explain what this question is asking, and what the answer is and why. i really want to try and understand physics. thanks =)When a 100-N bag of nails hangs motionless from a single vertical strand of rope, how many newtons of ...?
There are two forces acting on the bag of nails (i) the force of gravity (weight) downward and the tension of the string, upward.

As the bag is motionless, these two forces must be equal and opposite.

So the tension exerted on the strand by which the bag is hanging is equal and opposite to its weight. It is 100 N upward.

If it is supported by four vertical stands, its weight is acting downward which is balanced by the normal reaction of the four vertical stands.

Assuming each vertical stand share the load equally, the normal reaction exerted by each of the vertical stands is 25 N upward.

You can always tie it to some ceiling hooks with strings, which you can tie to the fan anywhere you can find a good spot.I have a 4 ft hand painted fan to hang, but I don't want to put nails thru the fan. Ideas??
You could try museum wax/putty. It hold things in place for when people have cats, and, of course, its used by those in earthquake prone areas and by museums.
Maybe there is a way to thread a sturdy string or wire through it and then hang the wire on a nail, or use velcro strips attached to the fan and wall and velcro it if it's light enough.

My finger is really swollen around the top and i can't put it straight. Some people say hang nail others say broken. It's really sore and swollen kinda on the wrong side, But i can't put it straight, and i can't throw either. What is it called when you get a hang nail in your pinky toe , should I pull it, or what. Help it hurts?

Try soaking it in epsom salts or try to get some Epsal (epsom salts oint for pimples) or Icthymmol oint (a black drawing salve) from the pharmacy and put on it with a bandaid to draw out the infection. If all else fails you could see a doctor or a podiatrist. What is it called when you get a hang nail in your pinky toe , should I pull it, or what. Help it hurts?
Treat a hangnail by trimming the hangnail area with clean manicuring scissors. This will help to prevent the hangnail from getting caught on clothing or anything else which would cause it to rip or tear close to the sensitive skin area. When trimmed, most hangnails will go away in a few days. Try not to pick at it.

To avoid getting any more hangnails, use a good moisturizer. Hangnails are caused by dry cuticles,,,,,(and that is easy to fix). What is it called when you get a hang nail in your pinky toe , should I pull it, or what. Help it hurts?
A real pain in the pinky! If nothing else, you have come up with a pretty catchy phrase. Hang nails can be a real pain in the pinky.

If there is no motion, there is no accelleration and no net force. Therefore, there must be 100N in the rope.

4 main things most atheists and evolutionists do here:

    1. mock christians

    2. blame them for intolerance of atheists

    3. encourage each other for the great mocking.

    4. thumbs down any answers that points at their silly jokes.

    grow up, kids.

    EDIT:

christians dont mock themselves, just as atheists dont.

A lousy attempt by an atheist to defame christians, forget it dont bother trying.

If the holes are really small you can get a bar of while soap and run it over the hole. The soap will rub off and fill the hole. Wipe the wall with a damp cloth to take away the soap shine.

When a 100-N bag of nails hangs motionless from a single vertical strand of rope, how many newtons....?

When a 100-N bag of nails hangs motionless from a single vertical strand of rope, how many newtons of tension are exerted in the strand? How about if the bag is supported by four vertical strands?

please explain what this question is asking, and what the answer is and why. i really want to try and understand physics. thanks =)When a 100-N bag of nails hangs motionless from a single vertical strand of rope, how many newtons....?
Since the bag is motionless, the system is in equilibrium. This means that the downward pull of the weight of the bag is exactly matched by the tension in the rope, which then has to be 100 N.

If the four strands are identical, and all are vertical then the load is equally distributed. Each has a 25 N tension.

11When a 100-N bag of nails hangs motionless from a single vertical strand of rope, how many newtons...?

this is one of newton's laws, the second which states that ';The rate of change of momentum of a body is proportional to the resultant force acting on the body and is in the same direction.'; this is represented by the equation F = ma where F=force, m=mass of object and a=acceleration (in free-fall, it is equivalent to the acceleration due to gravity or g=9.81m/s.

taking your example, when you hang an object weighing 100N by a single rope, the force exrted by the rope is also 100N although in the opposite direction. the direction of the force of the bag of nails is downward and direction of the force exerted by the rope is upwards.

if there are four strands tied to the bag, the total force exerted by each strand will be equal to 100N but the force in each strand is different depending on the angle made by the strand with respect to the vertical y-axis.11When a 100-N bag of nails hangs motionless from a single vertical strand of rope, how many newtons...?
it is motionless. therefore, the tension exerted in a single strand or four vertical strand is still 100-N.

    IN A SINGLE STRAND:

tension acts upward because the nails hangs.

the nails are being pulled by gravity, but it is motionless.

the nails are not accelerating nor decelerating, so the force up is equal with the force down.

    force = (mass)(acceleration)

    force=(100-N)(it is motionless)

    force=(100-N)(0)

    |

    | ------%26gt; strand

    | .....force=0 (NO FORCE)

    TIT

    LLl -----%26gt; box of nails

NO FORCE. BUT TENSION IS 100_N.

    ON FOUR VERTICAL STRANDS.

    \ \ / /---%26gt; strands

    \ \ / /

    TTTT ------%26gt; box of nails

    LLLLl

net force is always, always, always equal to the mass times the acceleration. therefore the force on four vertical strand is zero because it is motionless.

IF THE STRANDS ARE EQUALLY DISTRUBUTED, THERE ARE 25-N ON EACH STRAND.
the bag is being supported by the rope,so downward force=upward force

    mg=T

    mg=100N

    so T=100N

if there r 4 ropes the T is equally distributrd among the ropes

    t=100/4=25N

How do I hang a picture frame that doesn't have a little hook on the back to hang on the nail in the wall?

I have a picture frame that I want to hang but it only has that little stand that folds out at the bottom so you can display it on a flat surface. Is there anything I could install on the back so that I could hang it on a nail in the wall? How do I hang a picture frame that doesn't have a little hook on the back to hang on the nail in the wall?
Try 3M Command removable picture hangars.

Available in any hardware store. How do I hang a picture frame that doesn't have a little hook on the back to hang on the nail in the wall?
There are stick on hangers that you can buy at the store.
use a pop top from your soda cans. i have many pictures without the hooks all you do it stick it to the back of the picture and hang. as long as its not a heavy fram it should work.
Yes you can buy the little hook's at wal-mart or most any store like that. they come in little pack's. ou can also buy the stick stuff to hang pic with that is also at at wal-mart ete.

  • What do you call those little hooks that hang on a nail on your wall and you hang pictureframes on them?

I am trying to find them online at Target and I know I've gotten them there before, but when I search for picture hook, frame hook, hanger, etc., I just keep getting the wrong thing. Do you know what they're called? What do you call those little hooks that hang on a nail on your wall and you hang pictureframes on them?
You probably mean this kind of thing, right? (see link)

Target just doesn't sell them online, probably. What do you call those little hooks that hang on a nail on your wall and you hang pictureframes on them?
Picture hooks. Get them at any hardware store, all shapes and sizes.
I love the Hercules Hook. They are available at Ace Hardware and Linens and things. You just twist the thing into the wall and hang your picture. Only works on Drywall though, won't go through studs.
They are called picture hangers. I tried to find them on Target.com and came up dry as well.

Though I did find them on eBay and found loads of them....

Also, I was in Home Depot this weekend and saw them in the hardware area.
They are called picture hangers. You can find them at your local hardware store. Keep in mind different hooks hold different weights, so get one that is appropriate for what you are hanging!
Try Picture hanging kit . and /or type in hardware first

Is there a special nail to hang items on exterior stucco walls?

I am decorating my screened-in porch. Only the front part is screened, the other walls are stucco, like the exterior of the house. I have some wall decor to hang: a lightweight wooden trellis with a silk wisteria vine, a wreath, a lightweight wooden sign, and a heavier ';Welcome'; plaque. Nothing is heavy. Is there a special nail, hanger, or technique to use? I don't want the stucco to crumble, chip, or crack when I drive a nail into it.

Suggestions, please? Is there a special nail to hang items on exterior stucco walls?
I've got stuff hanging all over my stucco and I used screws and my power drill. I did use a wall molly to hang some wrought iron planters, but they are pretty heavy. I don't have cracks or chips around any of the holes. Is there a special nail to hang items on exterior stucco walls?
Ask for the department at Home Depot that sells nails.I think there is a certain way to hang things on Stucco or you damage it.
First of all, use galvanized hardware (nails, screws, etc.). The coating on the hardware will not rust and leave a rust mark on the stucco. Use a plastic anchor, something that will spread out when you put the screw or nail into. This is always the best way to hang something if you cannot find the stud. If some does crumble, use some outdoor caulking to fill the hole and then paint over when you are done with that hole.
