my pinkie is kinda fat and purple looking... this occured the day after i ripped a hang nail off.Is it normal for my finger to be swollen after ripping off a hang nail??
I have had problems with hang nails in the past and not only does my finger always hurt like hell after i pull it out it usually swells a little bit. I have only ever noticed swelling right around my nail though if it is worse than that it may be infected already. I would try an epsom salt bath that will soothe your finger and get it really clean. If you notice any white stuff under your skin it is most likely infected and you need to drain it. just poke it with a needle or something like that if it continues to be a problem then you may want to go to a dr. all in all keep it clean and dry. just keep a close eye on itIs it normal for my finger to be swollen after ripping off a hang nail??
Not the entire finger, just the part around where you pulled the hang nail. I would get it checked out. Until then, use some peroxide and neosporin to help get rid of the infection.

i've had swelling when i tear of hang nails, but i've never heard of it turning purple?


i'd say put ice on it, and if it doesn't go down see a doctor.

The swelling might last a couple days but if the swelling continues for longer then a week, it might be an infection. I would go get that checked out.
