Unfortunately yes, but this is because fingernails and nail beds harbor tons of bacteria just think about all the things you touch throughout the day. I am a nail biter and i have never gotten an infection personally but i work in health care and have been in microbiology and you would not believe the bugs that live on and around your hands.The best bet is don't bite your nails at all, use nail files or clippers and never clip into the quick. You need to wash you finger in antibacterial wash which will guarantee no bacteria
i would not suck it just wash it in cold water pat it dry and use a band-aid
i mean u couldnt but the chances of u getting infected are slim to none
