What types of nails and screws to use on exterior pre-hung door?

I've installed several interior doors before but never an exterior door. I'm not sure what size nails or screws I use. Do i use both? it seems like sometimes people will replace a screw in the hinge and use a 3 inch one but not sure. Any help with installation tips would be appreciated too! What types of nails and screws to use on exterior pre-hung door?
Once it's set in place, level, and plumb, nail through the brick moulding with 8d galvanized casing nails. Install shims between the framing and the jamb, then nail through the jamb with 10d galvanized casing nails. Shim at each hinge, above and below the strike, and anywhere else needed to keep the margin straight between the jamb and the door. Use a nail set to countersink the nails, and fill the holes with exterior wood filler. Remove one or two screws (one at a time) from the top hinge and replace with a 3'; x #10 flat head wood screw in a color to match the existing screws. Hope this helps. What types of nails and screws to use on exterior pre-hung door?
use 3'; zinc coated or galvanized screws every 16'; along the jambs and one for each hinge. you also want to install long screws along the strike plate to make the door more secure. don't forget to install moistop flashing along the trims to seal the exterior before the installation. good luck!
I prefer to use screws, but nails will work just as well.

Put a long screw in each hinge and a couple of long screws at the strike plate. The longer screws will make it more difficult for someone to kick the door in.
