Who do hang nails hurt so badly?

I have one on my index finger and it will occasionally spread pain through my finger tip. Why does that little piece of skin on the side of your nail hurt sooooo badly?Who do hang nails hurt so badly?

your index finger has nerves on the side by your nail which causes so much pain, so when you cut your nails, cut them properly so you won't have an ingrown which causes all your pain, I've had that on my toe before. if all fails, ask a pharmacist, my friend got some kind of medicine from there and it worked for her.
Hang nails usually are connected to the tissues on your fingers and pushing against the skin in strange ways. The finger tips are said to be one of the more sensitive areas on your body so it would make sense that anything brake or disturbing the skin is going to make them hurt. You can try soaking your finger to soften the skin or just leave them alone and they should get better.
because its where all the little nerve endings...end so its technically ripping them out

I don't know. Usually, when I get a hang nail, I put on a band-aid. After a while, the pain goes down.
